The Thread Lift & Feather Lift. . . Cosmetic Surgery's Latest Wave

(press release from The Professional Image, Inc.)

July 21, 2005 - Beverly Hills, CA. While the quest for the fountain of youth continues to grow, so does the desire for less invasive procedures and no downtime for patients. The facelift still ranks as the most dramatic plastic surgery procedure for the aging face, but now it may have competition as the newest wave of non surgical procedures are rapidly weaving their way to the top of the plastic surgery world in the form of the Thread Lift & Feather Lift.

?Patients want results but they don?t want the downtime or added risks that come with anesthesia or surgery,? explained anti-aging expert, Andre Berger, M.D. of Beverly Hill?s exclusive Rejuvalife Vitality Institute. "The Thread Lift is the perfect answer to this growing demand.?

According to Dr. Berger, the Thread lift technique is performed using only a needle and special barbed thread that allows the doctor to elevate skin tissue and permanently hold it in place without any cutting, scarring or anesthesia. The threads are designed with tiny barbs that attach to the subdermal tissue, lifting, suspending and holding the area in a more youthful position.

Dr. Berger further explained that due to the unique design of the threads, the surrounding tissues act to hold the threads in place without leaving behind any visible scars.

To lift the midface, for example, using contour threads Dr. Berger makes a tiny incision close to the ear and the threads are advanced along the previously marked contours towards the chin and jawline so they create a firm hold on the underlying tissues without causing additional trauma. The barbs do the work of holding, by being fixated to the tissue as they are softly contoured into place. The exact placement of thread varies from patient to patient. The Thread Lift can be used to lift the mid-face region, the brows or to tighten a sagging neck. The entire procedure takes about an hour and results can last 2-5 years.

Currently, there are two forms of threads used for this procedure. Each has its own unique way of securing and suspending the tissue. Dr. Berger uses both types of threads, Contour and Aptos in his practice, and teaches doctors from across the country the new procedure.

?Every day, there are more non-surgical anti-aging options available to the public,? said Dr. Berger. ?The Thread Lift is fast becoming the most popular to treat the aging face?-move over facelift!?
