SoftForm is a new permanent but removable material for the treatment of
deep facial furrows such as creases between the nose of the corners of
the mouth. Soft Form is a soft and natural feeling facial implant.
This inert material has been used for over thirty years on thousands of
patients for heart and abdominal surgery without allergic reactions! We
simply place this material under the skin to fill in the deep, sagging
wrinkle lines. This material does not react with the body.
Treatment with SoftForm consists of an in-office
cosmetic surgery procedure done
under local anesthesia. The implant is inserted below the surface of
your skin through two small incisions. Your body's own implant holds
the implant in place. The tube-shaped design promotes the growth of
your tissue into the tube. The facial implant remains in place below the
surface of your skin but it can be easily removed if you desire.
The procedure usually takes about 30 minutes.
Anesthesia: Normally only local anesthesia combined with a sedative.
Side-Effects / Risks: All surgery carries some uncertainty and risk.
The side effects are rare but include; the treatment site or implant
can become infected or tender after implantation requiring its removal.
A significant infection may result in damage or loss to the overlying
skin. A hematoma or sermos (collections of blood or serum) could form
requiring surgical drainage.
Possible reactions with any facial implant material may include, but
are not limited to: inflammation, infection, fisula formation,
extrusion, hematoma, induration (firmness), seroma formation,
inadequate healing, skin discoloration and inadequate or excessive
augmentation.
Irregularity of the implant associated with lumping may occur. This may
require a surgical procedure to adjust or remove the implant.
Recovery: Treatment results are visible immediately. Swelling,
bruising, or some discomfort may occur. Some patients may experience a
sensation of tightness at the implantation site. Up to 1 Week
Following Treatment: Most swelling and bruising should disappear. Many
people will not be able to tell that a procedure has been done.
Although you may always be able to feel the implant under your skin,
softening of the implant is anticipated over time. 3 to 4 Months
Following Treatment: Healing is complete. Continued softening of the
implant is anticipated.
Results: The SoftForm implant provides a deep contour correction.
Some patients will benefit from additional correction with other
materials, such as Zyderm or Zyplast collagen implants.
